iDevs get push API

•August 1, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Apple’s just seeded the push notification API to developers through the second beta release of the iPhone 2.1 firmware. What this means to you is that developers can now tailor their apps to receive notifications in the background while it’s not running, something supremely useful for apps like AIM, and to a lesser extent, Twitter and other social networking apps. The target date back at WWDC for when you’d get your hands on the background notification was September, which seems right seeing as developers need a month or so to integrate it and then get their apps approved. Now you can always get your email instantly, *ding*. “oh look its here!”

Judge Rules Early Termination Fees Are Illegal and Violate California Law

•August 1, 2008 • Leave a Comment

A California Supreme Court judge has just ruled that early termination fees from cellphone companies violates California state law and are illegal. What’s this mean to you? Sprint Nextel has been ordered to pay $18.2 million in reimbursements to customers who already paid their ETF, and to stop trying to collect $54.7 million from customers who canceled and refused to pay. But if ETF fees are illegal, does that mean 2-year contracts—which in turn give you subsidized price on your cellphones—will be a thing of the past? Tough to say, but we’re headed towards some change… Maybe those who didn’t buy an iPhone should get one now.

well if you’re on a mac, open up the terminal app. once in there paste this code into it and press enter:

Now you dont have to wait like 10+ minutes to sync your iPhone to the computer. To put the back up back, paste this:
